So who watched ER tonight? and which ones of you were watching and listening intently to see what the ER fertility/ obygynie/ whatever doc said about Banfield's chances?
I was!
I had a few quibbles with their "science". Not being 100% detail oriented and a bit of an airy fairy air sign I may have missed some of the details, but here goes:
First, she gets a negative pregnancy test and then she sees the Fertility doc and immediately gets and FSH and Estradiol and something else test. Isn't that supposed to be a day three test? How did she get to day three so fast?
Secondly, and this may just be my quibble, her FSH is 13.5 and the doc says she could not possibly do IVF - it would be unethical. The chances are 1% - maybe less? She says that no doc would do an IVF cycle with those numbers? I guess the reason I want to know if this is true is that my FSH was 13.5 this time last year and was 12.5 in the summer. When we went to the RE with those results he looked grave and said my egg reserve was probably low and quality may be low, but I don't remember him saying it was only 1% and it would be unethical to do an IVF cycle. He said we should try one cycle to see how my eggs responded.
Ho hum.
And then there was the whole storyline about the kids who were practically orphans and the older brother sold drugs to take care of his younger brother and we're all thinking: oh she's going to try to adopt the younger kid and forget this whole IVF thing.
And then the obgyn tells her she has plenty of other options and ways to make a family.
Hello!!!!!! double dummy points for being tactless, stating the obvious, and being totally out of order!
So now, as I sit waiting for my period to come on day 3 of no BCPs, I am wondering - what are my chances? If I don't get my period for a few more days what happens? Do I miss the boat on this batch of IVF?
I am going to call the clinic tomorrow and ask them. But if any of you have any advice for me - shoot me a message!
thanks for listening!
Less than nubile, happily partnered damsel of the sapphic persuasion waits too long to attempt pregnancy. Enlists the use of donor sperm and donor eggs. One fresh cycle and one frozen embryo transfer later and the dreamed of BFP happens. She walks down the aisle and marries her sweetheart while 7 months pregnant. Out comes baby girl , and a whole new life (for all of them). Fast forward 3 yrs. Baby boy is born, her marriage is made legal and the adventure continues....

KCMO to CHI-Town IL
Tomorrow we set off back to Illinois - a long trek that is about 500 miles and usually takes us about 12 hours - we like to stop a lot.
I am feeling a little trepidation about the trip - the events of this week have really brought home to me how easy it is to be here one minute and gone the next.
I think I got blaze about the weather and her vagaries, cruelty and unpredictability. Kind of like the sea - beautiful, endless and treacherous.
DP has done much Virgoan ( is that a word) weather and road forecast research. The weather looks good for tomorrow -but I am reminded that as well as the weather we have to be prepared for a**h*le drivers who are in too much of a hurry to care if they tail gate or not.
Oh the melancholy of it all.
I lay in bed last night wondering if a. the roof at home was going to leak and b. a pipe was going to burst as it did last winter when it thawed and ruined our floor and made us nomads for two weeks.
These BC Pills are really kicking my Asselina Jolie.
"they" make me crabbier than an apple, critical, irritable,self-righteous, judgmental and whiny.
I swear I was just plain melancholy before I started taking them.
DP is getting the brunt of it - I ask her to tell me to shut up if I get out of order.
This Monday I call for the injectable meds to be delivered, the week after is when I start them and it's full steam ahead -after endless waiting.
Apart from the excitement of that I am looking for serious adventure - fantasizing about a ski-ing trip ( except I don't think it's a good idea if one is preggers), swimming with dolphins ( and not the usual tourist trap ones either - of course!) trying to get into the Vagina Monologues, doing some serious singing, not working too hard, exercising, losing some of my Extra Hot Grande Ginger Snap Latte fat, sounds like a list of New Years Resolutions.
Which reminds me fondly of my Nanna who was a teeny bit of a hystrionic narcissist - when asked if she was going to make any NY resolutions replied: "Oh, I don't need to make any, dear!"
Signing off for now for good night's sleep and sweet dreams:)
